Steampunk owl

Welcome back, It has been awhile and  this month has just gotten away from me. We have been so busy all the time that I have barely been able to do anything crafty.

Every year I submit something to an United Way fundraiser Artfest in Toronto through my union. The first year it wasn't accepted and I almost didn't submit last year. At the last minute I did and the piece was accepted and then sold at the auction. This year I had an idea in my head for awhile so I went on a bigger canvas than I have ever done.  It was accepted, unfortunately it did not sell at the auction.

Anyways, my thought was a steampunk owl and I went ahead and had fun with it. I painted the background, added some texture paste, painted some more, added some gears, the owl and more texture. I really like how it turned out..

Before making Steampunk Owl I did another smaller piece. I started out making a prototype and then stopped. So I did a different mixed media canvas as well.
This is a photo I quickly snapped with my phone so it isn't very good.

Anyways, both of these will be available at the Country Christmas store in Fonthill. Live life is already there and Steampunk Owl will be there next weekend I hope.

I also have 5 custom cards to make for the a regular at the store so I will post those next weekend.

Thank you

A friend wanted some Thank You tags for the administrative assistants in the office.
These are the four that I came up with.
All of them loved their tags, and the chocolates that came with them. :)

Crazy bird birthday

I love the Tim Holtz crazy birds (just might get the cats too) and since my daughter needed a birthday card for a friend we pulled them out.
Her friend is into soccer and she wanted soccer balls on the card somewhere.
I pulled out some patterned paper (I believe really old Karen Foster) and matted them.
The birds were colored with distress pens and water pens
I think it turned out pretty good.
To me, the birds are balancing on soccer balls. Do you see it?

Baby shower cards

I was asked at work to make a couple of baby shower cards so I did these on the weekend.

The image is an awesome one from this new to me site...Slinky Tart.
I did one in pink and one in blue to give an option. I colored her with copic markers. Patterned paper:
Pink card Bo Bunny Crazy Love
Blue card LYB Fern & Forest
The ribbon was silver and I colored it with distress ink. I believe the "flowers' are Prima.

Disney Autograph Books

Back in October I was called by a friend, she had recommended me to do a autograph book for a client of hers. I only took a few pictures of the book, my favorite ones. LOL
This one was a little different, I did tabs for different classic characters, movie stars, princess/princes.
It was requested to have the castle on the front and not Tinkerbell. I got several emails from the client after she rec'd it to tell me how much she and her niece Amanda loved it.

Ariel's page. I had drew the seawood, but it is almost the same as a Dyan Reavely stamp (that I would love to have). Then coloured it in with SU markers.

This one is similar to one I did for my daughter. The only page decorated is the cover. Jayden is going on his very first cruise and Disney trip. It isn't exactly what I wanted but I still like it. When they get back I am going to add the photos of Jayden with each character and add it to his book. He is autistic and I am hoping he will love looking at the photos and autographs a lot.

That is about it lately. Sorry I have been neglecting this blog but if you ever want to see the cards or scrapbook pages that do you can visit my other blog at
